Brown ground turkey (or beef) in a saucepan, and drain any excess fat. If you have enough time, transfer your cooked meat to a crock pot and add remaining ingredients. If not, add remaining ingredients to the saucepan after draining fat.
Drain the cans of the tri-bean blend. You don’t have to do a thorough job of this. If some of the liquid is still in the can, that’s fine. Just pour it over your meat.
Add the salsa, crushed tomatoes, chili seasoning, and brown sugar. Give it a good stir, and set it to cook on low for about two hours.
